While some people are blessed with perfectly aligned teeth, others can require alignment treatment as early as seven years old. For many teenagers, having braces is almost a right of passage into their adult years. Adolescents are growing and changing at a rapid rate, which is when crooked teeth, gaps, and bad bites are detected. Since these problems don’t correct themselves, most parents will seek alignment treatment. Braces will be placed on the patient’s teeth to straighten and correct their bite for a beautiful, healthy and confident smile!
Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you missed the window of opportunity of having a great smile. At R. Paul Campbell, D.M.D., adult patients are offered a full range of specially designed treatment methods including traditional braces and advanced technology that produce dramatically different results. Each treatment is created to improve the appearance of your smile while preventing potential tooth decay, gum and bone loss, irregular wear of tooth enamel and TMJ/TMD pain.
Types of Braces
IN-OVATION C Braces
These self-ligating braces are made from ceramic material and naturally colored, making it a perfect fit for patients concerned with aesthetics and “blending in.”
Lighter wires and lower-friction brackets produce faster results and more comfort. The slide mechanism, strong mechanical base bonding and solid walls are structured to control tooth movement with speed and efficiency. The self-ligating braces are also easier to clean so good hygiene can be maintained.
Thermal Activated Wires
Developed by NASA, these innovative braces use wires to absorb the heat in your mouth to exert gentle and constant force to straighten your teeth. These high-tech pliable wires enable teeth to move quicker and cause less discomfort than other variations of braces.
When you want straight teeth but don’t want distracting braces, we have the options for you! ClearCorrect™ are custom-made, removable and clear which means your teeth will straighten without anyone knowing. You can also eat and drink whatever you want! With ClearCorrect™, life is about to get a whole lot clearer.
It’s important to establish a routine wearing of your retainer in order to maintain the results you achieved during your treatment phase.
The removable Hawley is considered the “traditional” retainer. Its construction involves plastic (acrylic) that cover the roof of the mouth or lies along the tongue side of the lower teeth and comes in a variety of colors. Wire clasps grasp the back molar teeth to anchor the retainer while a metal bow wire runs across the front of the teeth to maintain alignment.
The Essix retainer is a clear, plastic removable aligner that fully covers the teeth to help maintain straight teeth. It’s virtually invisible, durable, easy-to-wear and normally less expensive than the traditional retainers.
Bonded or Fixed Retainer
A subtlety placed small wire is positioned on the backside of the front teeth to maintain alignment. It’s considered a permanent retainer because the patient cannot remove it.
